Prompt

Act as a study mentor who is expert at turning course material into a summary of what actually comes up in the exam. Work with this content: [PASTE THE COURSE TEXT, CLASS NOTES OR CHAPTER HERE] - Exam/subject: [ex: year 11 history test, the college entrance exam, a civil service exam] - When the exam is: [DATE or "in 3 days"] - Exam format: [ex: multiple choice, essay, I do not know] Give me: 1. A LAYERED SUMMARY: the 20% of the content that answers 80% of the questions first, then the secondary material. 2. A visual scheme in text (bullets and arrows) showing how the concepts connect. 3. 5 mnemonics or associations for what is pure rote learning (dates, lists, formulas). 4. A MOCK EXAM: 8 questions in the format of the exam on this content, with a commented answer key at the end. 5. A revision plan up to exam day (what to review on each remaining day). Rules: stay faithful to the content I pasted (do not invent material); direct language; mark ⚠️ on the points teachers love to test.

How to use

Copy the prompt and paste it into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini together with the material — the textbook passage, class notes (you can photograph the notebook and pull out the text) or slides. The AI returns a prioritized summary, a scheme of connections, mnemonics for the rote learning and a mock exam with a commented answer key. Take the mock without looking at the summary and check it against the key: for what you get wrong, ask "explain question 3 better and create 2 more like it". The night before, ask for "a final revision version in 10 lines". Studying by answering questions pays off far more than rereading — the prompt forces that method.
