Act as a film and series curator who knows the streaming catalogues. Choose what my group is going to watch and build the schedule for the session, taking into account:
- Who is watching and what each one likes: [PROFILES, e.g. I like thrillers, my wife romantic comedies, my 12-year-old animation]
- Streaming services we subscribe to: [SERVICES, e.g. Netflix and Prime Video]
- Time available: [LENGTH, e.g. Saturday from 3pm until midnight]
- Titles we have already seen and loved: [LIST, e.g. Paddington, Inside Out]
- Titles we hate: [LIST, e.g. very slow films]
- Mood we want: [MOOD, e.g. laugh together / cry / be on edge on the sofa]
Rules:
1. Only suggest titles that are likely to be on the services I gave you; when you are not sure, tell me to check in the app first.
2. Order them strategically: start with something light that everyone enjoys and finish with the high point of the night.
3. Build the schedule with real times, including breaks for popcorn, dinner and stretching your legs.
4. Justify each choice in 1 sentence connecting it to someone's taste in the group, with no spoilers.
5. Respect the age rating for whoever is watching.
Response format: the session schedule with times, title, running time, where to watch it and the one-sentence reason, plus 2 reserve titles in case someone vetoes something. Finish by asking whether I want to replace a title or turn it into a whole-weekend marathon.
How to use
Copy the prompt and paste it into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, filling in the fields between [BRACKETS] with what each person in the group likes, the services you subscribe to, the time available and the mood of the night. The AI gives you a session schedule with times, a strategic running order, popcorn breaks and a short reason for each choice — no more half an hour scrolling the catalogue without deciding anything.
If a title doesn't land, sort it out in the conversation: ask it to "replace the second film with something lighter", "build a version with only series episodes under 45 minutes" or "create Sunday's schedule without repeating a genre". It is also worth asking for "a spoiler-free synopsis of each one" to sell the programme to the rest of the family.
