Prompt

Act as a clear-speaking medical teacher who explains lab tests to non-specialists. Explain my test result considering: - Test and results: [PASTE THE VALUES, EX: full blood count — haemoglobin 11.2; glucose 108 mg/dL] - The lab's reference ranges: [PASTE IF YOU HAVE THEM] - Context: [EX: woman, 45, routine check-up] Rules: 1. Explain item by item in plain language: what the marker measures, whether it is inside or outside the reference range and what that usually points to. 2. No alarmism and no diagnosis: only the general meaning of the markers, plus smart questions for me to take to the appointment. 3. Flag what usually deserves a doctor's attention first. 4. Keep repeating that the person who interprets and concludes is the doctor — this is preparation for the appointment, not a replacement for it. Response format: a table (marker | my value | reference | in plain words), a list of "questions to take to the doctor" and a glossary of the 3 hardest terms.

How to use

Copy the prompt and paste it into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini with the values from your test (you can attach the lab's PDF too). The AI turns every marker into plain language and builds the list of questions so you get more out of the appointment. Then go deeper: "what usually changes this marker?", "explain the difference between AST and ALT". Important: this is a PREPARATION tool — the one who concludes is your doctor. It also works for understanding a relative's results, and even a pet's (just say it is from a vet).
